Lee Leighton passed away last night after a heart attack, he was one of the drivers of the empi jouster the short lived glass body racer, he also had a long time engine building shop of his own, and as a personal note was the first old timer I ever met

Very sad day. Lee was a very good guy and always having fun. On the way to the DKP meet before the VW Classic I had the pleasure to have Lee roll up beside me at a red light.
I looked over and he smiled and I knew it was on! As I got the butterflies in my stomach I hear his engine start to rev and the light go's green.... We both went hard thru the gears to the next light. I lost but was so excited to have just been beat by one of the legends of our hobby, when we got out to chat he says "Sorry Bout that" :08:
Awesome!
Here's a pic from a few years back.
RIP Lee.
