Title: Noisy Fuel Pump
Post by: KOOL-AID MAN on July 12, 2004, 11:04:47 PM
my bug has an electric fuel pump that makes a high frequency ticking sound when i turn the ignition, is this normal, it kinda sounds like a little compressor??? it werks good, and you cant here it when the engine is running, but that would be because of the stinger, im sure it still makes that sound tho :)

Also where is it located, pumps like to push not pull the fuel so if it is located in the rear of the car it will work harder and sound louder.

My pump is located up front under the tank (passenger side) I made an aluminum mount that has rubber grommets both under the pump to the mount and under the mout to the car. Only time I hear it is if my system needs to be primed.
