Title: Westjet ticket raffle
Post by: josh on August 22, 2014, 09:05:11 AM
Could be total coincidence but the day after the show I started getting telemarket automated calls from westjet harassing me....I bought a raffle ticket for the firefighters fundraiser and used my cell # on it.

Anybody else getting these? I'm up to 4 calls now I think, like I said could be a fluke but I haven't flown westjet in probably 12 years and find it a little odd and kind of annoying if they used the fundraiser for a spamming campaign!

It's a scam. Westjet doesn't do that. Just hang up.

I would find that highly unlikely Josh, I get those calls at work all the time and haven't had one since my entries last weekend. I'd say co-incidence. I don't even know if it's WestJet doing the marketing, as one time I sat on hold and asked to have my name removed from future calling. I promptly got hung up on and it continued after that.  By the way, got the one yet saying that they're microsoft and need you to go in front of your computer to install an emergency update. Was out in the yard and my son took the call. Came in and asked what was going on, he said it was microsoft and we had to make changes. I grabbed the phone and asked the details, got hung up on. It happened again the other day, I just sat in the front porch and played along, yes, I opened explorer, yes I typed in the url, yes, clicking download now. F'ers!

just to be sure, I checked, and tickets were NOT taken by WestJet after the raffle, and they did not take anyone's information!

These are the same old scammers that waste our phone's airwaves. I tried to get them on the do not call list, but every time I get a call it's from a different number so they've found a loophole on that one.

Repeat, these phone calls have nothing to do with the Westjet raffle, and Westjet does a standup job in donating these tickets for the past few years. I flew them to Toronto a couple weeks ago and the flights were great! ON time, and the food was good, unlike the other major Canadian airline which had a 6 hour delay and shuffled us like cattle from gate to gate! ;)

That's an automated scam and has nothing to do with Westjet. It's been going on for a year. Has nothing to do with the raffle or Westjet.

It's been much longer than a year for me and I've never used my cell number on any entry forms and have never flown Westjet, yet I get calls saying "after my recent flight I've won $200 Westjet bucks". I also get the Microsoft windows support calls at home, I play them along while we wait for the computer to boot up acting like a confused old person and then ask them what I do next as big apple has appeared in the screen. Seems my daughter kicks alot of dogs too, that guy's fun to mess with as he just keeps sounding madder and madder. Don't forget overly perky sounding Anne and the free trip to Florida I keep winning or her similar sounding sister who's name escapes me with the "short survey" to circumvent the telemarketing laws.

Forkin scammers.................grrrrrrrr......

Our winner was in Kamloops, she just posted a thank you on Facebook the other day. She said it was the first thing she ever won. Congrats!

Haha, you guys are funny. Once again, the actual raffel is run by the gcvws staff and not Westjet so your all outa luck thinking your call had anything to do with the tickets.

The number was only on them so we could call the winner... And we only place one call!!
Winner winner chicken dinner!

Now go put your tin foil hats on... The aliens are coming.
