Who can tell me the reason or the story behind the 88 on the knob. Super curious!
-
I had to search this out and found two really good answers , one is that the 88 is two infinity symbolys representing that the hazard lights will continually go on .
The other one is not the number 88, but rather a pictogram of four circles representing the four lights, front and back , left and right.
I've also heard has type 88 but now leaning to more of the founded research answers

its actually secret code. the 8th letter of the alphabet is "H", so it actually means "HH", which was tribute from the post war Nazi sympathizers declaring " hiel hitler" . just nobody ever figured it out till I just spilled the beans on their plot.

See that's what I heard too. I just wanted to be sure so I wasn't telling someone a bs kinda funny. I'm in Mexico right now and seeing a ton of vw bugs and vans. I love car-ma!

It served as a reminder of a fun song from my youth!

Thanks Chad ! Now I feel like I am back at Chilliwack Junior in the 9th grade feeling awkward.......I still feel awkward but oh well good times! I always proclaimed myself to be a master of useless trivial knowledge and I did not know this.

I should also add that when you put the 4 way flashers on, it lets everyone in the "loop" that you are proudly saluting " der fuhrer"! you'll never view a parade or motorcade the same way again!
