Title: history of speedway/Douglas motors re: plate frames

old timers. ....what's the deal with this Douglas motors victoria?? was that what speedway was before it was speedway?

just scored these 2 awesome frames for my 55 (thx again Greg! !! :lol: )

this is the 3rd time I've seen an odd pair together exactly like these....coincidence or did cars get both rolling off the lot or ??

Got some good info on vic site (go figure eh?) there use to be two dealerships here....Douglas was on Douglas St current location (pretty obvious right?) and speedway was on Yates St. sometime in early 80s speedway bought out Douglas and moved into that spot. now speedway has change names last year and is now called victoria vw I believe?

I'm getting addicted to these early plate frames. ...I can see why guys collect em! anybody have any they wanna part with let me know!

seems the speedway one i have is a but of an oddball? the text is reversed to all the others I'm finding....I'd like to find a matching pair is anybody has one with dealer on top and victoria on bottom..... I WANT IT!!!!
