Title: Static Timing Help
Post by: 66split on June 18, 2004, 09:13:41 AM
OK, new engine. Its set at tdc on the degree pulley and the #1 piston valves are closed. I install the distributor and the rotor should point to the notch in the 009 body which is where number one fires right? i am supposed to set the dist at 24 degrees BTDC. How do i hook up the test light? and do i move the degree pulley to 24BTDC first? aircooledtech.com sight says that i hook the test lamp to a ground and the positive spade on the points but I am running a pertronix? can any engine gurus help explain this a little bit for me? thanks rick

Well let's see, how are you supposed to time it with a timing light when it won't run because you just put the dizzy in? Duh
You should set it up statically for 10

I dont know what kinda carb your using, but if your using a 34pict carb that 009 will not be a good idea, they dont work well together.   :)
