Have you considered something a little newer like a Vanagon SC that could be upgraded with a larger engine like a Subaru H6? Big brakes and suspension mods are readily available. There is one for sale up your way.

I know where there is an H6 for sale. Can't remember if it is a 3.0 or a 3.3. It is complete with the FI, wiring and computer last time I checked.
