Hello All,
I'm looking to rent a garage for the winter to do a full body restoration - lots of grinding and welding and finally paint. Preferably in North Van. but will consider other.

never tell anyone you are going to paint a vehicle in a garage. The fines are huge from the GVRD if they catch you. Keep the details of why you need the garage to yourself or it will be hard to rent something.

Edit: as per http://www.metrovancouver.org/boards/bylaws/Bylaws/RD_Bylaw_1086.pdf, the GVRD bylaws only apply to commercial operations.

Individual municipalities may have different regs of course. I'd be curious if anyone knows definitively what they are. I've always spraybombed my cars and don't see how it's any different than painting a fence or staining a deck with a sprayer. I once painted a motorcycle in the living room of a rental apartment I had...

All good info. If painting is a concern I could always do that somewhere else.
It looks like the regulation is aimed at business rather then personal use.
