As seen at the GCVWS. After trying to sell it intact the "Moose Knuckle" is sadly being parted out. Own a piece of history. I am pillaging it for some items that I need for our other projects and will start listing what's available below. Silas I am sorry....I know you love this bus. It's parts will live on in all of our busses.....there'll be a bit of Moose Knuckle in everyone.

someone with a farm/acreage/cabin in the woods should save this biotch and put it to good use by using it as a plow/tractor/feed hauler/wild boar hunter/backwoods party bus!!!
i'd buy it but i dont think it would make for a good daily driver in vancouver traffic. or would it...? :evil1:

Sounds like a waste of another cool bus
Nothing will be wasted...and the busses it's going to help get closer to being on the road are much cooler. No regi...not legal to drive. As funky as it is it is pretty useless. Not fast enough to go trailbashing with the other busses. Front end barely touches the ground so you're left with steering brakes. Really it was designed for use on flat snow which we don't get much of and our yard is only 1/4 acre anyways.
I am really glad Silas pushed to get it up to the show so people could see it...as it needed to be seen. I am hoping it will get some kind of magazine coverage so other people can enjoy seeing it too. It is very cool...but useless.
It was listed on the Samba August 15th and although there was some interest at first no-one wants to come up from California or elsewhere to pick it up. Randy contacted me about having it in the Freakshow which I thought would be awesome but after trying to figure out a way to get it down wasn't working I stopped hearing from him. It sat on Kijiji in Alberta for quite awhile before I got it and no-one stepped up. I was hoping I could find the bus a home, but it doesn't seem like anyone else wants to step up, and I don't really have a use for it other than using parts to get ours (and other people's) busses on the road.

My 23 window thanks the baker's very much!!
-
Thanks Steveo!
The 59 Campingbox is happy to get a really decent cab interior
Our 55 single cab gets door guts, handles, a wiring harness, Speedo and switches, a tunnel trans, and various other bits (should almost be enough to get it running
Another ASF members important top secret project bus gets some love too
Bwaz gets some very nice Golden Milers for his split that still have most of the nubs on them
Stefan gets some bits for his bus.
VWGUY gets some upper vents to clean up his 58 Panel, a front floor mat, and a running stale air 40 horse
And I will find a home for all of the other bits.... It helps out a bunch of people, and nothing goes to waste

yup...a sad day indeed...but by no means a waste. ;)
chris nailed it. it's an awesome bus, but no one stepped up, and it's a $2000+ tab that none of us can afford to keep as a whole.
but alas, it was saved from a failing kijiji add and an impending date with a crusher. it was bought, and revived, and loved and brought out of the darkness so people could enjoy it and all it's beauty. it's legacy will live on as it saves other buses, and the memories of the late great Moose Knuckle will inspire greatness from every mind and body of every person that laid eyes upon it. it was a incredible creature, and it will be forever remembered.
my favourite pic from the weekend...these 2 little kids just digging the s#!t out of it. our future is in good hands...

rip Moose knuckle. :'(

Silas, dude you really do have a way with words!
Bus was rad but ya totally useless! Glad I got to check it out before it went to a better place chainsaw

I had seen this bus for sale on kijiji in alberta and had been in contact with the seller, must have been after chris as it shortly vanished. I am out in revelstoke, where there is a TON of snow and would loved to have had this, but between the shipping chris has already put into (wrond direction from where I am) it plus missing parts, the same worthwhile deal cant really be had as with the original seller.
I just dont see how it would be worth it to part this thing out sheet metal wise. A roof a nose and a couple front doors...
15 days to sell something like this is a fart in the wind. I really hope it wasnt bought just to be parted out from the get go.

Sounds like you should have bought it. He pulled the ad right away so if the ad was up you had an opportunity. Advertised on Kijiji for parts...bought for parts.... but thought I'd try to leave it intact enough for what it was (an off road vehicle), and find an owner for it. 15 days and over 5000 hits on the Samba.
-
We have to remember that unless you only buy new parts that all of the second hand parts that most of us acquire over the years to build our cars come from something that was parted out. No matter what the condition is we can all have different opinions on is it worth saving or just parting it out to complete other projects. Once someone has taken ownership of a vehicle that choice becomes theirs and should be left at that. That is just my two cents worth. Thanks Tom
-
x2 iagree
-
Well I bought the entire front nose, and the entire front nose is being transplanted to my 58 23 window, so one half track vs a 58 23 window.... i think its done well.
-
It was on Kijiji Alberta for over 2 months and no one stepped up. I think you did a good job on saving other buses, especially the nose of a 23! Some buses have to be parted out, be glad there's someone in your area willing to do most of the legwork for you guys.
-
I'm glad to see it saving others, I just thought it was sad to cut it up after wanting it at the show so bad. Maybe swap the tracks to the pole dancer ;-)
-
Gotta do what you gotta do. Now Video tape the surgery chainsaw lol_hitting Unfortunately nobody stepped up but as said it was Photographed and videotaped for reference and help some future rides
-
ok, now somebody hand chris the sawzall and get cutting!!! some have to be sacrificed !
