Title: Provincial Tech Inspection
Post by: Stevie on June 07, 2004, 12:48:45 PM
Hi my name is steve i'm 17
i own a faded yellow 73 beetle with completly mix match parts
in November of 2003 I imported the car from washington, and now I am ready to insure the car. to register the car my insurance people have to inspect the car to check vin numbers and all that, but they want me to drive it down to there building but to do that I need to get day insurance but i need to have it registered to get day insurance. kinda stupid and confusing

but after that mess i need to go through a provincial tech, does anyone know where is a good leniant place to go in the abbotsford or langly type area and does anyone know exactly what the criteria is, i have '64 taillight on it and i'm hoping they won't fail me for that and i have a hole in the battery box but i'm not sure if they'll care, several other things are needed but i'm not sure what else i'll need to do in the next couple days.

I need to get this car insured by friday as saturday is my prom. i have had my heart set on driving a Beetle to prom since i bought my first bug in 2002 1 week after my 16th b-day,

any help would be greatly appreciated
thank you everyone for reading and for whoever adds replys
sorry for the boring bug life story

Thanx a ton steve

Give Rick at Delta Propane in Surrey a try. It's at 86th and 121st in Surrey just off Scott Road. I've heard of him getting old/homebuilt hotrods through.
I don't have a # for him but it should be in the book.

We've been through the provincial inspection a couple times now and I really doubt they are going to care that you have 64 tail lights as long as they work. They are just going to check to make sure your car isn't a rusty peice of crap and that things like the brakes, seatbelts, transmission work. People make way too big a deal about these inspections, they really aren't that bad.

As for the insurance crap...go to another insurance agent. We had a stupid lady that wouldn't let us insure the car until she checked it and I said the same thing you are saying. Anyway we ended up going to another insurance agent and never had another problem. Lora on the board did our temp insurance last year, maybe she still does it.
