Hey Gang ,I have just bought a 66 bug from the States, I got it from the original owner, and the little car has a crazy history, It was bought under a points program from Simpson Sears . I have some history with the car but not all , I do remember that Sears did sell some rebuild kits and parts in The old Sears in Burnaby, (which is is now known as Metrotown ) If any one can help with any documentation or catalogs that would be great.

did it come with the Sears Raider wheels?
-
No it looks totally stock from the outside, I have seen some pictures when the old gal bought it, and it looks like a run of the mill sea sand beige bug, that was the first question I ask her,if it came with the Randar wheels , she said no . It does have a little maintenance book from sears but that is it .

My father got his mechanic's licence in 1970 at Central Park Shell in Burnaby and we lived just off Nelson and Kingsway (we could see Simpon Sears from our house) and my father owned several Beetles at the time. He doesn't remember that Sears location offering any points promos or any parts at all, and he was in there buying tools all the time when he was starting out.

Thanks Jason,I grew up in south Burnaby and like you guys it was really cool looking at all the Craftsman tools and stuff at the old Sears. If you went in the Tire and Auto side I still remember the VW air cooled Kits displayed in there show room, All the parts were layed out in a case and all painted different colors, Looking back on it it was pretty cheese. I bought this car from the States so they may have had different programs down there , During the 40,s and 50,s you could even buy house kits from them, you pick one of there many plans and they would build it for you.

My uncle used to be the manager of the Sears tire and auto shop in Burnaby, but I don't think until the mid 70s. I'll have to ask him next time I see him.

Thanks Bruce, That would be great
