Title: new look for the beetle cockpit
Post by: beetlemandan on August 11, 2011, 10:56:29 AM
finally redid the beetles interior this summer after collecting parts for the last year

i got some low back poly buckets from lordco and mounted them onto honda crx seat sliders and mounted them onto some 1"x1"x.125" aluminum bases that i had hansel aluminum products in penticton tig weld up (this guys aluminum fab is like jewelry! i highly reccomend him!) as for the missing seat cover, its on back order, 8 weeks and counting. all said and done these seats made the car 35 pounds lighter.

on the instrument side of things i scored a porsche 914 tach and speedo, and for the oil and generator warning lights i used a red LED and a green LED for the oil just for that vintage vw look , you can see them on either side of the tach, and they are really bright. the red almost hurts your eyes.

i made my jettas momo wheel fit by zipcutting the base off the hub adaptor and welding it to an old beetle adaptor i had kicking around.
