What oil would be best for my 1776 in the heat ?
-
pppfffffft (the sound of a can of worms opening) :P :D ;)
what brand/viscosity are you using now and why do you feel the need for change?
personally, i have had great success with basic pennzoil 10w30 & 10w40 mineral oil in all my acvws (stock motors with lots of city driving & long road trips, varied ambient temps with no over heating, plenty of power). imho, it should work fine in your application aswell.

If you dont want your oil to breakdown from the heat, dont use any.

10-30 is fine, I use it on most of my engines.

in the heat ?
Where is this hot climate you speak of?
I've used 0W-20 through the summer. I'd still use it, but it's so hard to find. 5W-30 jugs are stocked in my garage.
Remember, the higher the viscosity you pick, the hotter your oil temps will be. This is due to the Beetle engine's oil cct that bypasses the cooler when oil is thick. Jag can tell you how much his oil temps dropped when he changed from 20W-50 tar to 10W-40.
