looks like chris and i will be heading out to calgary for .....darg racing


 Das Volks 2011



Hey everyone, thought I'd post some of the info for Das Volks this year, details are incomplete but here is a rough outline:
 

Friday July 22:
 Drag races at race city
 - tech starts at 6:00pm
 - races start between 7:30 and 8:00pm
 - Tech closes at 9:30pm so all cars planning to race must be at race city prior to this
 - **update: after the drag races we will be heading to peters drive in for food and then out for drinks
 
Saturday Jully 23:
 Pancake Breakfast at Concept 1
 - time: TBA
 Poker run:
 - teams drive around the city finding activity stations and completing tasks
 BBQ at fish creek
 - roughly 5pm
 Sunday July 24:
 Show at Stanley park
 - time: TBA

That's great news!!

If I have my cylinder heads fixed in time, I'd love to race with you guys in Calgary...

Many thanks to Darren for giving up his Friday night to flycut my cylinder heads and repair the valve guides!! I should be ready to race at Das Volks on the 22nd...

Calgary weather has been fluctuating from 28 degrees on Monday down to low 20's.  Here's the Friday/Saturday/Sunday forecast...looks like the rain will be gone by tomorrow, just in time to race.  It's sunny and clear at the moment: http://www.theweathernetwork.com/weather/CAAB0049

So was racing rained out?  Usually when racing has happened, we hear something the next day.  How about the show details.

Yes, Kevin, we were rained out for the first time on a Das Volks Weekend...it's been a crappy summer so far, with only four racing Fridays in three months!!  It seems that the rest of the country is experiencing a heat wave and we're freezing in Calgary...down to single digits at night.

Fortunately, the weather for Sunday's show at Stanley Park was a rare beautiful day...26 degrees and sunny!  Here's a couple links to photos:
