Title: WTB: 67/68 Beetle axles, tubes and rear brakes
Post by: iceneweb on March 04, 2011, 03:41:24 PM
Fitting offset spring plate adaptors to my 64 bus, so looking for 67 or 68 Beetle axles, tubes and rear brakes, or a complete tranny drum to drum.

Shipping to England might be a little expensive?  Isn't there anything closer especially for a trans.

Also, if you are using the offset plates, you don't need the 67/68 tranny.  They use the regular notched swing plates.  The offset plates are for tranny's with short castings (ie any swing axle trans pre 67).

Brodie: great, thanks :)

Dawerks: i'm from the uk, but i live in bc ;)

now i'm confused. I am using these:

(https://airspeedparts.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Fimages.thesamba.com%2Fvw%2Fclassifieds%2Fpix%2F2868546.jpg&hash=67eed14ba589295d9cda5d78de9e60a7da67d653)

and i am going to either flip the ring/pinion on my stock tranny, or use a type 1 tranny drum to drum

here's what the seller 'OLd Speed' in California told me I needed:

"you will also need axles and tubes from a 67 or 68 beetle or most year type 3 swingaxle"

Yup, you're right, those are for the long axle/long tubes (67/68) or Type 3.

Getting old and confused. :)  'Any tranny' is right, but the axle/tubes part is incorrect on my part.
