Funny that VW posts this info doesn't really research the facts! I thought the first "Official" North America beetle sold was in 1949. They have an image of what could be a 1984 mexican beetle beside that text. It also implies that the first Ghia was 1971?

I've got one of those what year is it? brochures, and it has a good listing of changes over the years for cars.... It's from VW Canada.... maybe they don't keep their own paperwork to check back on.

My guess is that they got an advertising agency to set that up. Ad people not car people. 8)

That, plus the last real VW was sold in Canada 31 years ago, so there's nobody left in that organization that has even seen a VW.
