Well anybody intrested in a fall photo thread or Your VW and Halloween .Here is mine going into storage again  :( Other priorities this year maybe next

Picked up this bad boy for halloween,
 guess what it is and you can have it =) minus a few parts

hey thanks !!   Ive been trying to figure where the wheels came from on a 68 bug i see once in a while. they are the ones on the 924 in picture .
 When i bought rear brakes shoes  for my bug recently , the package says they fit early 924 also . 
Do they  share the same bolt pattern as 4 bolt bug ? . just curious !

and probably not it's final resting place (it's bloody tight in there) for the fall/winter...but it'll keep it dry for now...

Early (pre-84ish) 924s do indeed use the same rear brakes as a late Bug, same drum too, except that the bolt pattern is not Beetle.  It is a smaller pattern.  No doubt the guy you saw had his fronts re-drilled, then slid on a pair of 924 rear drums.
