Title: Good Vancouver or North Van "VW" body shop?
Post by: bwaz on October 14, 2010, 09:33:26 AM
I've moved forward to a 99.5 golf for the daily driver, and it needs what looks like an upper hinge pin on the passenger door. Went to Rudy and Peters down the street from work, but he looked befuddled about the process? Can anyone recommend somewhere that does newer VeeDub work?
thanks
Brian

As they're close, I went to Nick's here in North Van. They suggested that the upper hinge needed replacement. I went home and had a better look (in daylight) and saw that there's a bolt on the upper hinge that was loose. I tightened it, and the sag was much better. Not perfect, but better.

Went back to Nicks today, and told them what I had done. They had a look, and I suggested that the haynes manual I had said they were adjustable by loosening the hinges and raising the door to align it. They tried it, and it worked great. I offered to pay for their time, and they wanted nothing. I stuck a $20 in his pocket and said "buy beer!"  I'd recommend them for the time and trouble, and listening to the customer to give it a try.
