Title: Charcoal Canisters

Does anyone sell these new now?.. or are they serviceable?

Several years ago I used one that was for a Rabbit, bought it new from Westminster VW.

Busdepot and Germansupply AFAIK but only the mid 76+ style round plastic ones and not cheap either, a Thing uses 2 doesn't it?, the oval plastic and oval metal are NLA last time I checked, you can refill them: http://www.thesamba.com/vw/forum/viewtopic.php?t=389074 . Bus, Beetle, Ghia and Thing all share the same unit.
