Title: Camshaft specs

Question: two camshafts in comparison-

Web 226: 278 degrees (at 0.050" valve lift) and 0.406" lift (at cam).

CB 2298:  278 degrees and 0.407" lift.

However, the "advertised duration" is 304 for the Web and 328 for the CB.  Some sources say the advertised duration is meaningless, useless, etc.  Others say advertised duration relates to the "shape" of the lobe and can affect potential HP with certain combinations.

Just wondering for VW cams if anyone can share their knowledge on the significance of the advertised number, if any.

To me that means the web has a fast ramp, harder on valve train and should make more torque than the CB cam.  But the more torque is very little.

I  only look at the .050 #'s  and then order the cam with a larger base circle, to make the ramps as gentle as possible.
