Title: Anyone bringing a trailer or vehicle back from LA?
Post by: piercedvw on September 07, 2010, 01:30:29 PM
Is anyone taking a trip down in the next month or two?

I need something fairly large (but light) brought back from LA.. or need to find a cheap shipping company.

????

Even the name of a place(s) would help.. I'm doing the shipping company doe-se-doe.. and not enjoying it. :s

It will fit in the back of a truck or maybe on a roof rack... or could have it put on a pallet.

Yup.. not going to happen unless I can find a REALLY good deal. The quotes I got have been 3 times what the item is worth.. I'll just have to keep looking for something closer.

Apparently the risk if damage is high also. :(

The  guy selling it isn't quite up on how to get proper dimensions even, and I'm concerned it won't be pallet'ed properly.

I thought you were as tough as nails Tarrah.  Question, what about going down with the soft top.  Taking it off and driving home with it collapsed inside?  I don't know much about the mechanism though, does it collapse like a Jeep soft top?  I'm guessing not.

I've brought a soft top back from yakima inside our old thing with hardtop on. The hard top may not fit over your roll bars though. I know they don't fit over the '73 roll bars. Don Eddy doesn't know of any tops more local?

The fibreglass Jet ones are modifiable (the only one that WILL fit over the rollbar.. Don may have one, though I haven't seen it yet to know the condition and he wants 200 more I think.. still need to talk to him again :( .. And the other one would have saved me from trying to paint it :(
