I went to KMS Car Parts Tool Parts (next to KMS Tools) today and was asked by a young staff member if I needed any help. I said I was just browsing to see if they had any VW Parts. The guy said not really, but pointed me to an older gentleman telling me he is the "vw guy". When I approached him and asked about vw parts, he continued to read through his manual at first I though he was perhaps helping someone on the phone. So I stood in front of him for a while but he continued staring at his manual and never aknowledged me. So I wandered a bit, but was still within ear shot, I do not think he was aware of this. Then I heard him comment to the younger fellow that "he does not sell vw parts to lower mainland people". As I walked out some other customer went up to this so called "vw guy" and he helped the guy right away. So this confirmed that this "vw guy" was ignoring me. Not sure if he is the owner, but some good customer service skills could have avoided a potential lost customer.
I will find out if the KMS tools and KMS car parts are the same. If so, I think my days of shopping at KMS Tools are over. To bad I like their tools.

Too bad the owner is not aware of your experince.
I am sure they have a head office and if I had a vested interest, I would like to know. No friend or employee would take money away from my pocket. wtf
-
From what I have heard their "VW Guy" is no longer into VWs.
-
I hope that no one thinks its me :o I have no connections with KMS tools.
Regards Jimmy D the real VW Guy

I think you should get the guy's name and have a little conversation with the owner of KMS. That's what I'd do.
-
Sounds like that VW Guy use to work for the government! wtf
J
-
better yet you go and stick your face into his and give him shit for such a bad attitude towards customers. He said he doesn't sell to local guys would insinuate that he will sell to out of towners who he can gouge better than locals.....
-
I think most of us know who he's talkin about... I've already spoken to someone there about how I was treated by him.
-
is that Farmer?
-
No Rick is a very good guy.
-
I thought so,,,even though He was always surprised at how fast a VW can be when he was announcing.
-
no it would never be farmer he used to own lots of vws he would give you the shirt of his back to help anyone out! he would be the person there i would ask for ,to help in locating any part whether its vw or domestic! ;)
-
Farmer is great, but if ya got him when he is in a mood and did not know him? Phil might be talking about him?
Anyhow, kms is great for old cars, not so hot for vw's but I think they are latest rage dealers, think they are one of the largest in Canada.
who fricken knows!!!!! wtf 8)
-
i was also just there and met rick , great guy !.. helped me out alot... don't know about the othere person , but have heard a few negative things about "him"
-
Sorry to be blunt but who is this guy?? Sounds like a bit of a knob! Wayne
-
Somewhat comforting knowing it`s not the owner and that others have experienced the same treatment from this individual. I intend on speaking to the owner in the near future.
Thanks.

@ 72vw - I understand your annoyance. I've talked to the manager of KMS Car Parts to relay your concerns. That's definitely not the way we aim to treat customers in the store. KMS Tools and Car Parts are two separate businesses but with the same ownership; who incidentally will definitely hear about this. We built our business on great service and exceptions like this (whether in Tools or Car Parts) don't go unnoticed. PM me if you'd like contact info to get in touch with the owner directly.
Also, I should clear up that Car Parts is definitely not anti-VW. The 2011 calendar which is coming out shortly features one of the winners of the Peoples' Choice Awards - a wicked vintage VW bus built by KMS's very own master builder, Bodo Reichert.
