it's actually embarrassingly simple, but cool that way for a good read because it's funny too.. like real life funny.. He will tell you to have bandaids ready for certain things.. and yup.. you will need them.

I have one 'working' copy with my notes.. and another of the original ones with the old metal coil that I keep behind glass..lol

Was given one of the first editions about 40 years ago.  I pretty much read the whole thing at the time.  Made a lot of sense back then and for the most part still does.  Quite a few life lessons tucked away in there as well.  I still refer to the latest edition from time to time.

Brings back some good memories.

yup. much easier read then the Bentley cover to cover...which I've also done. For the Bug, Audi 90q, Audi 4000q and VW Golf 2.

wow. Geek label.

I did once years ago, but now that I've discovered the benefits of fiber in my diet I have little time for that sort of epic tome  ;D

When I first decided to get an aircooled I bought that book before I got my car. Read it from cover to cover while I waited for a deal on a good Square to pop up.

38 years ago in 1972 I was 16.

I remember something about the explanation of differences between Water cool and Air cool engines and the timming. I have no idea why that comes to mind.

imho, the muir book has it's place and serves a certain purpose...but i can think of a ton of other reads that would be way more worthy of your time.

and if you think the curios george series is an exciting read...you gotta check out the series of novellas based on his evil twin furious george...featuring the man with the yellow fist! :D

I did enjoy reading the book for a good laugh, and it did teach me a lot... the one I remember is how long you should let your volkswagen warm up for...can t remember exactly but the time it takes to roll one and than smoke it...than you should be good to go.  I really liked this book though..
