Title: rear tranny mounts

i bought new rear mounts for my 74sb but they are not like the original ones.it looks like I can't use the metal spreader thing with the new ones.my question is do you need that metal speader piece or is removed when you put in the newer mounts.

I'm sure VW thought of leaving out the connecting link, but determined it has to be there.
Do you have a link to the mounts you bought, or a pic you can post somewhere?

If you want to stick with the original style, I can set you up.  I have 3-4 completes.

don't care about sticking to originals,I was just wondering if you needed them or not.what I have will fit , just not with the metal bracket that is there :D
