hey there, in the past few months i purchased my first air cooled a 67 bug, and absolutly love it, it is porche red and with empi 8 spokes on it not bad at all, but i have some plans for it in the next couple months, unfourtunatly the previous owner welded on the fenders ??? not what i would of done but other than that the car is in good condition,
my plan for the car is to bring it back to a more classic cal look, i am going to cut off these fenders and i am currently looking for 67 OG fenders knowing that the one year only, also have the bumpers as we speak being shipped from the states,
now my main problem is i am in hunt for a colour, i know what i kind of want but cant really find it, what i am thinking is a medium green maybe metallic or not but something that looks good, there will be trim and am planning on putting fuchs on the car, black with polished centers spokes,
also the next thing i am thinking is the interior, i do have seats that i will be getting re-wraped but dont know what colour thinking about putting a nice light tan leather but not too sure the seats have came from a mk2 trophy if familiar they are recaros,
i am really just looking for some ideas from everybody, i really do appreciate all the help,
thanks again,
cheers

If it's a custom car, I wouldn't paint it a VW colour. Why pick a colour that's gonna be on 5 other Beetles at the show?
-
go to a paint store (Horizon) and take a look through their paint chip books Ty. You can get a real look at the colour.
-
any suede finish, never wax or worry about scratches again!

c'mon Bruce, that's like saying why have a beetle, when everyone else does... bring a polka dot Lada!
(not that there's anything wrong with that) :D

is this the google image car you're looking at....?

if so...i followed the link to wccr & it looks like this is the same car (even tho the colour is a little different because of different location/lighting/camera...the wheels & bumpers are different...the mirror is different...both cars have the same interior, jack point caps, white standard steering wheel, ect...)

here's the link with more detailed pics...

also...pretty sure it's a dbk car...and you can see the red painted rotors (exactly like on your google image car) in the pic below...

and after taking a quick look at thesamba.com colour charts i'm going to guess it's L240 agave (a 57 colour)....

thats it, hey thanks for the help i greatly appreciate it,
thats the look i will be going for, one kill looking car,
thanks again

Agave is very close to Iceland Green. I can think of 4 local cars painted those colours. Why not pick your own colour instead of building another look-alike car?
-
i dont know, i really like the look of the car, i'll really deciede when i get ready to paint, but how many 67 are that colour, but seriously lot of car colours out there, it will beat the porche red that the car is now, i know of three cars including mine in aldergrove that are red look a like so if four is it ill take that lol
but you do make a good point, im trying to go for a nice classic colour, any other ideas?
cheers

How many cars had Fuchs at the gcvw?.........

How many cars had Fuchs at the gcvw?.........
That's my point exactly. I really like the look of Fuchs that are polished with black painted backgrounds. But since so many VWs have that, you won't see that look on my car. So far in the last 20 years, I have never seen any VW on this continent with Fuchs painted the way mine are.

there is a reason why you wont find urine yellow fuchs on any other cars out there! ;) ;D
willson12...it's your ride...paint it whatever colour you like and run whatever wheel you like. because in the end you're building it so you can enjoy it and drive it...not so you can fit in or be different!
-
haha yea thats true, well i still have that colour in mind until i find something else that really grabs my attention then i will decied then, but it really comes down to when the car is ready for paint, right at the moment have to find the og fenders and aprons for the car due to previous owner welding on these ones??? ???
cheers

what are some thoughts on midnight blue on a bug, ??? wouldn't be a classic loook but something a little different? let me know your thoughts, if it was midnight blue what would be good for a interior colour?
cheers

Reply to Bruce....................let's just all paint our rides the same colour , wheels etc. Lol ???
-
so i have found the colour, it is called a pearl metallic cobalt blue, and i am thinking about using radar wheels, the colour is a close looking black blue really sharp looking, cant wait till i can get the colour on the bug, let me know what you think,

i always pick the colour at the last second, i find if you over-anaylise it, you'll never be happy. but my 2cents is this; if you wanna go cal-look, don't use mettalic or pearl paints. my 69 bug was navy blue (almost black) from the factory and i got nothin but complements on it, but i still turn lots of heads with it being flat black. and hey flat black is really cheap to do.
