Title: orginal bumpers

I go some original bumpers for my 62 bug but there a little banged up and rusty , if i send them out to be chromed can they also fix them if there dented and pitted? or am i better off going after market? any input would help.

after hearing about chroming from my hot rod buddies, you're gonna be in for a shock on how much it costs. if the price is worth it, get some backround info on the shop, i've seen and heard lots of horror stories on lousy chroming. good luck!

They can fix the dents.  However, it costs $$$ to fix the dents.  If you start with straight bumpers to begin with, they will cost less to restore.  You also don't want to start with really rusty ones.

One thing you should be absolutely sure of is that your bumpers are genuine VW.  It would be a shame to put money into bad fitting repro crap bumpers.

If they are original you should be able to locate a vw stamp with numbers on either side of the logo. It is around the middle of the bumper on the backside. The numbers identify the month and year of the bumper.

I agree with Bruce.
Original Bumpers or NOS, is the real deal.
I went with the repro ones from Wolfsburg West, these are nice quality.

I recommend painting inside of them.
