Title: Motor Is In!
Post by: Matt on August 01, 2003, 10:26:20 PM
took all day but its finally in and running. The bus is now powered by a \"monster\"   1776. A little girly motor to most but its the biggest I have had, so far. I just need to check valves and carbs and figure out why the rear apron is so damn hot, the oil isn't hot just the rear apron. It's running a header and a type 1 hide-out exhaust. Is the heat from the header the cause of the hot apron?

the only bad part today was when I dropped a heater box on my knee, don't ask why or how but it still frickin hurts!

Good job Matt!
If the header is hot and transfering the heat to the apron the motor may be lean. What carbs are they? If they are the Kadrons, Try turning the air / fuel mixture screws this may help some. Also check the timing, set it anywhere from 28-32'

how can I tell if it is lean or not? do I turn the screws in or out to adjust this and how do I know I went far enough??
