Here's a good one. I have replaced the crank bearings and the endplay is .050 for some reason. When I shim to get the endplay down to .006ish at about .020 endplay the crank stops turning like I have tightened it too much. Anyone ever seen this?
Thanks

I am no expert but,
Try removing them and see if it turns. Is your calibrating tool good?
How about your rods.. are they facing the right way?

The crank turns great until I try and shim out the endplay. I am using a Mitutoyo Dial and base so my set up is pretty solid. I'm almost thinking maybe to get some new bearings and try that as they are cheap. All the rods and bearings are in just as the book tells.

Could it be that the block it worn and its the whole bearing that is moving? If so,the case will need an align bore and thrust cut.

That seems to be my thought and lucky me I have a guy here in town that specializes in doing this and he is not very expensive. I'm dropping off the engine today and hoping that it has not been done too many times already. Cross my fingers. Thanks for the help!!

I just have three cases that all needed cut's I think Hansk is on to something.

Took my case in yesterday and it looks like it may be too late for the thrust cut. >:( I'm guessing the last owner didn't catch it in time. I'll find out today. I guess I'll be placing another order at CIP!!
