Title: 911 Fan straps diy
Post by: vwmike on May 23, 2009, 11:58:40 AM
Hey Guys,

Just looking for some tips, or even better yet pictures of some 911 fan straps for a type 1 conversion. I've got a sharpbuilt shround I've had forever, but it didn't come with a strap so I'm trying to figure out the best way to make one, what will work well, and look good too. thanks
Mike

Most of the shroud kits have straps built from formed stainless. If you know someone with a break or a somekind of former just buy some stainless or steel and have it pressed with 90's on either end and your golden as long as you have the appropriate fan stand to mount the strap to. If you dont have that contact Geoff Peterson because he may be able to make one for you

I bought some mirror stainless at the metal mart and made my own....very cheap!
They cut it to the width I needed...I cut the lenght when I figured out exactly how much I needed

Another way is to get an original 911 strap and cut the ends short.  Then you tighten it the same way as the 911 did.

I have an original steel 911 strap but its ugly as hell. Was hoping to come up with a ss one. The ones bergmann and some others use look like giant hose clamps that they cut down to work. Any idea on where to find such a huge clamp?
