Title: Happy Anniversary Mom and Dad
Post by: slammedbus on March 28, 2009, 10:41:51 PM
Well many of you know the story. My love for VW's started cause of my parents. When I was a little guy both my parents had beetles. Mom a beat up old 69 semi auto hardtop and Dad had a yellow 76 convertible. I remember the convertible very much. It was the ride he had while dating my mom. It was the car they drove off in on their wedding day.  Unfortunetly in 1980 he sold it as priorities changed with a young family (as they always do)

This year marks my parents 30th anniversary and unbeknown to them (until this Sunday evening) my sisters and I have bought another one and restored it. We were shooting for a daily driver kind of car (as we are operating on a shoe string budget) and I think we even got a little better than that. Please no gabbing to friends about this story until tomorrow evening.......just in case!!!!

Looks great Jason.  Wish I could have been there to help out.  Say congrats to your folks for me.  30 years is a long time for anything let alone a marriage with you as a son. ;D ;D ;D

Great story man.

My congrats to you and your folks. You do not find many couples reaching the 30 years benchmark. Having you and your sister think of such a project shows that they not only did the 30 years but, they raise two very though full human beings. That does not just happens.

And that is an awesome car.

Jason, the car looks awsome. I was fun just being a part of the whole process. Good luck tonight and I hope everything goes as planned.

What a night! They had no clue what was going on. Even after they opened the garage door. Stories were told including a trip to California that I had never heard about and a few stories that I noticed had been seriously edited when I heard them many years ago.

Should be at the GCVWS this year.

All in all my dad is pumped to get his motor finished. Sounds like he may even want to try it himself.... :-\

The eagle has landed!
