Is that the one the owner of Cowell VW in Richmond owns?
It could have been the same split I once saw parked outside an auto repair shop in S Bby in the late 80s.

Here is a pic of the same car (i believe) that I took at a GCVWS in the early 90's.

That split could have been owned by Dana Craighead from D & B Automotive in North Van.
Not sure if he still has it.
Kraughtbucket would probably know.

It was a local car here, I remember seeing it around 1988 to 90 then I believe it sold or went to Vancouver Island. I Can't remember the all the details.
-
It does look a lot like Danas split .
-
I don't think Dana had chromies on his split.
I do remember in the early 90s we had more than a couple of splits show up at the Aug show. One was Dana's.

That was a split bodyworked /painted at Right Spot Paint and Body in Burnaby where I worked in the late '80's early '90's. Willy H. from WW motors owned it for a while and traded it to a couple in Richmond for a 1956 beetle that I got my hands on in 1990. Some may remember it as my Ronald Mcdonald yellow oval with red steelies on it.

Since we are on the topic , does anybody know what happened to the 53 Zwitter that I sold to the Bigsby bros , I heard they were doing it up for a client but that was all I knew . I sold it to them back around 1985ish for a whopping $2200.00 .
-
Nope, It's not Dana's, his 52 wasn't a zwitter, and he painted my old zwitter black from primer. There was a car years ago on Sutherland in North Van but he sold it. It might be Kryn's from the island, he still owns his and had it at the Victoria show last year at Gyro park.

IIRC there was a tonne of non-original stuff on it. Some cheesy front turn signal lights on the buimper brackets and alot of the interior was far from original.Body wise it was super solid. I took some cool black and white photos of it. I should scan them and figure out how to post 'em up.
