If I was James i would be in tears about now. :'(

Wow! All my hard work has been redone. Oh well, Im sure it will go faster now. ;)

Seems like such a shame. Why redo a car thats already been restoed?
-
THIS is why you should never sell your soul...err I mean car.
Occasionally the same thing :-[

Was that not an 10K+ car?

Was that not an 10K+ car?
Yes...it came with some decent parts and loads of potential...but it was far from perfect
-
Oh don't get me wrong I know it makes more sense to buy somebody elses project who dumped a ton of money in to it. I had no idea there were that many issues with it.
-
The more money and time you pump into a 40+ year old project car, the less issues you will have.
I spent a good sum of money for my 64 beetle 4 years ago. It was a total body off restoration with new almost everthing. Within the first 6 months, I found that the passenger door was binding, and the hinges were frozen. The car needed an alignment...badly. The charging system never did work. The steering wheel came 3 weeks after I bought it and found that the wheel splines did not match the shaft, and it was 'forced' on. The left axle boot was incorrectly installed, so a month after purchase, it ate itself, and I lost most of my tranny fluid coming home from Seattle. On top of that, the decklid was not installed properly, and the paint was marginal.
Some people would think that I got ripped off. Everything else on the car is cherry, and based what you get for price on many cars i have seen sold since, I am not unhappy with my car or how much I paid for it.
I think a lot of people have an unreasonable expectation with respect to the value of things out there. I think you would be lucky to find an old car that was 10k and has no issues. With the cost of materials and time, I think it is more reasonable to expect an older vw to cost north of 20k to have 'no' issues.

Kirin, He bought that car because it was im prime condition, Now hes rebuilding it to A. Make it hos own and B. to fix everthing that was stated above.
Oh and he is going to finish it long before you even see your shell ;D
-
Read the above. It always makes sense to buy somebody elses project because its 20 cents on the dollar. If you buy it and dump 10 grand into it, it will cost the next guy 15 to get it there...
As for him getting done his car before mine. I really don't fucking care. I really doubt he's trying to get his BA in history right now, gearing up for Snowboarding season and doing a drivetrain rebuild/ motor swap, trying to pair down his fleet and trying to have a life at the same time. Seriously if I had enough time and money I would pump that car out and finish it in no time flat. Or give it to Lanny with a big lump of cash. Unfortunatly I don't have the luxury either. However if you look at how long its taken some others like Gary to finish their cars maybe you'd get it.
Wait when was the last time you started and finished a major project???
Thought so. ;)

Easy there, Superman...you're just setting yourself up for more abuse.
Like I tell my 22 year old son, sometimes it's better to be silent and have others think you are a fool than to open your mouth and remove all doubt.
Peace, out.

Glad to see you are making the car your own, as far as the heater channel and Quarters and lifter bores are concerned I had no idea. The rest was pointed out. Not sure if you are pissed or what, I sold the car in good faith and I assume that you would have pm'd me otherwise.

Sorry buddy
Devil's in the details. Theres a lot more to my car than just a slam job and mechanical resto.
I just remember your double door that had huge plans that you sold off. The Vanagon TDI swap that's yet to be completed...
My car will be done when its damn good and ready. Might be next year, might be 5 years. It doesn't really matter.

Vanagons not mine and the DD turned out to be not what I wanted. So I traded it for something I wanted. Im sure you knew that that and are just looking for any attempt to try and redeem yourself

There is a video of the prank that Shane and Jason pulled on James regarding his car. Its pretty classic.
-
Well my car has been 14 years and still sitting.
The only decent car I had turned out to be a big piece of shit........... :-\
Sorry josh.
It takes time to finish a car, K-feds car should be finished in 2015 is my guess.
Maybe 2030 with this economy
