Alright, I have no idea what forum area to put this in...so here it is!
I'm looking for some good ideas on restoring this Kadron muffler. I know it's not the greatest header/muffler combo, but it's an original Kadron system that's been on my car for over 20 years...so it stays. But I do need to figure out how to make it look new!
I guess what I'm wondering is whether I should try those electrolytic rust removal, or just toss it in the sandblaster?

p.s. Where in Van can I get the tip re-chromed?

I'd just sand blast it I think . For chrome , try Superior in Cloverdale. Not sure if they can do just the tip or would need to remove it .

If you want to chrome the tip, you will have to remove it. Once it is chromed, weld it back on. When you paint, paint over the weld.
It would be easier to just get a chrome tail pipe the right size from Crappy Tire and weld that on.

Don't forget to grind the chrome back 5 mm or so, unless you weld it with 309SS. Even a small bit of chrome plating diluted into a carbon steel weld can cause cracking if not pre/postheated properly. You don't want to put a pile of preheat into thin materials such as exhaust components.

Easy enough.
I used to work at Vibrant so getting a tip is no problem! Started on the muffler last night, I think it will come back pretty easily.
