Shawn Glad you asked.... Cuz I will tell you the whole story... Well second to last night or last night not sure , the guys decide to go out for a night run .....Well after getting lost  ..... Brent H from this forum runs out of gas on the dunes........If you run out of gas or do something stupid you get the chicken...... Well I am just happy to report the chicken is home where it belongs!!! :P Oh and Brent had to buy 1/2 a can of gas off some guy in the dunes for $10. B)
-
It's not just about the buggies.
I go there to spend time with my family and friends. But I know if you WERE THERE you would have left as soon as your buggy was broken...... :P :P :P
-
You made me Proud Papa!!!!!!! I heard about your walks etc
-
That was a proud moment for my 1914 ^_^ .It pulled alot of stuff off the dunes Explorer, 3 rabbit rails , quad, and a repay to upm for all the tows he gave me.Probably the first and last time to ever give upm a Sand shower :D My daughter misses the chicken! :mullet:
-
Well GRK, I will gladly return the chicken. I wouldn't want to upset her now!
And Pointblank- We had a great run to the south jetty. We were on our way back when I ran out of gas(Ha ha ha). Hi jumper towed me but had to go through ATV trails. We only got momentarily turned around ;) . We came across a guy camping in the sand and bought some gas. That was it... Drove the rest of the way home and arrived 1hour after curfew...YOU WOULD HAVE GOT THE CHICKEN IF YOU HAD SHOWED UP! :P
BTW- We had a great time. Weather was outstanding, great company and awesome dunes. Can't wait till next time.
-
Brent you didn't tell how much we thought of you, seeing I was broke and Hanzk was with highjumper . Doug and I hiked out on to the tall dune with spotlight in hand to flash light for your way back home!   It was a Great[/B] Trip! :mullet: :mullet:
-
You are indeed a true friend. And yes Thanks! It certainly did help! :D :D
And I must mention Amanda for her CB work.
-
You guys sound like you are diggin a bigger hole into what happened.....
I am green with envy .... Getting Lost in the dunes any day is better than stayin home
-
It was a great trip!!
I already have my motor out and the Trans comes out tonight!! I'll throw a new ring and pinion in and it will be ready to go in a week.
Where's the next trip??
Thanks for the tow Gary. It was the fastest the buggy went all week..
-

Upm are you talking about how fast my rail went or yours? This trip was probably the hardest I ever ran my rail. Point blank you'd have been proud   , even got 4 wheel air many times:o :o . Sandy even enjoyed the landings :unsure:with the new front wheels much better. Hanzk thank's again for the help building the motor couldn't have done it with out ya! :mullet: :mullet:
-
The that you gave me was the fastest my buggy went that week!
Thanks again..
-
Next quick trip May long weekend to Sand lake :!: :!: .
Anybody Interested ????????????
-
Thought you were going to Florence? Sandlake is great for night rides if Brent runs out of gas he could walk back to camp! :P  We had a blast at Sandlake on Thanksgiving lots of trailers  :mullet:
-
I thought of maybe going to Sandlake since it's closer.
I should see about mounting a 45 gallon drum on his car :D :D
Isn't this the second time or so he's run out of gas :P :P
we'll se as it get closer, if nobody else goes then I'll do something else
-
i'd like to go but my girls have a dance competion  ]:( .
Don't remember him running out of gas any other time, I remember someone who had a beer keg 58 litre and ran out of gas , who was that? It's cool at Sandlake when the fog comes in at night for night ride. If Brent goes and you follow him make sure he doesn't make his own trail's. His rail doesn't burrow through the hills very well infact it stops rather hard and the holly$#$#$ bar bends. :mullet:
-
Brent ran out of gas once just after he loaded on the trailer.... :o
Other than that he tried to ram my buggy throught the back end of his motorhome.......
;)
-
Hey Shane, oh mighty one, wasn't that you who ran out of gas at Sand lake? (when the guy wanted to trade you gas for the gril [Robin].
-
No more sand trips for me this year :( :(
Dissy land this summer , then about 5 years to pay for all this
I owe ...I owe....it's off to work I go....
-
Hansk if it's I owe I owe then lets get busy and part some Westy's that someone has? How about finishing a Canadian Super Bettle so it can be sold? ;) [_[ There's money in the yard  :mullet:
-
Hey Shane, oh mighty one, wasn't that you who ran out of gas at Sand lake? (when the guy wanted to trade you gas for the gril [Robin].
Ok OK... lets go back waaaaaaaaayyyyy back........
THat was the purple buggy... How many buggies ago????
But I did. However have not done it since.....and not recently....\"Mr. If i go fast enough I will go through that sand hill\" hm guess not.... Gary are you dead or did you just S**t your pants???

-
Let's get it right! It wasn't my pant's, B thought I was spitting out broken teeth ,but it was the 5 gallons of sand that was blown up into my face,as the wipe sheard off from the force of a object in motion finding an object which was not in motion. Was that not the last time anyone played cat and mouse at night?   ;) :mullet:
-
    ;) :P :D

It's hard to run out of gas if you don't go , you better be carful with those new side drafts next time it might drink fuel like mad. If you were to bring someone gas again when he run's out I know he'd sell or trade a keg tank![_[ :mullet:
-
YOu see,,,, I always check my fuel before I head out.... ;)
UNlike Brent and some other Keg guy who thinks he only has to fuel up once for a week
Ha Ha Now next time I go out I will run out
-
Hanzk point blank am I just behind you on these sites? Pointblank may run out of gas but shouldn't break anymore trany's Brent's pit crew checked the fuel and added but mis camunication as to how much:rockon: :mullet:
-
Ha Ha Now next time I go out I will run out
Well I guess we don't have to worry about that happening any time soon, cause you never come anyways. Maybe you should teach your wife how to drive a stick(other than mine), and put some miles on that shit can. :P
This is a invitation to all those people that actually show up at the dunes, we have been invited to a place called Beverly, WA leaving Wednesday evening April 21 and returning Sunday the 25th. It's about 4 hours away but be warned that aren't very big dunes. The weather is awesome and there are 4-6 other buggies going and quads, all friends, one from Delta (Chad) and the rest from the US.
Everyone is welcome and the more the merrier. Oh ya this is real camping no hook ups or running water. Ruffing it!!! This is our next trip.
-
Upm1 where in WA how does it compare to Sandlake have you been there before? :mullet:
-
  Sandlake lake is like 1000X better from what others have told me. This is like silt not sand.....Maybe your buggy will last more than one day Chris..... NOt sure If I could go all that way to just look at a $30,000 Rail
Maybe when your wife is not over \"having coffee\" Licking the cream off my Mocha.. with me you could get her to fix your buggy RIGHT!!!!
But having said that Gary..... any dunes are better than your buggy sitting at home on your trailer......
Sorry Chris we will be Skiing.....
-
Are these dates of Easter??????
-
High Jumper no that's not Easter. Easter is April 9-april 12. PointBlank you should know about leavin a buggy on (in) a trailer your speaking from experiance (thanksgiving spring break)! Can you run paddles or is it better to run dirt tires in WA? ;) :mullet:
-
Hey compandres !!
As long as it is not Easter I'd go for that.
Fill me in if anyone else is into going.
If it's just Chris in I them, chances are I'll be running by myself again, (sorry buddy I know you have a problem with the throttle and breaking shit) :D :D :D
I mean that in a good way :P :P
-
The sand at Beverly is fine, its Moses Lake sand that is like silt/ash. If Pointblank hadn't cancelled that trip as well, he would have known that!!
Gary you can run paddles or dirt tires, either one will do...
Thanks for the dig HI Jumper!! I am workin on the tranny as we speak. No expensive parts broken. At least at these dunes we won't have problems getting back to camp. Not too many big dunes to be towed up!!
I forgot to mention last time, that you don't have to pay to stay there either. It is free! Bonus... :D
Keep us posted!
-
UPM if I can't make it do you want to borrow my tow rope ? Maybe take Rayne's advice keep the throttle wired to 1/2! :o :D :P :mullet: Don't forget to take a spare Tranny! :mullet:
-
Wow,
This is the first time I have ever broken on one of our trips and been down for the count. But by the way I've been getting ribbed you would think that It was a regular occurrence for me.
But just remember i have towed many of you guy's in the past up the steepest dunes.
Hell Shane blew 3 trannies last trip...

Upm yes I know and a high percentage of those tows you gave were to me! :P I still owe you a few more tow's. I just thought I'd better get the ribbing in now cause it might be a long time before you break again ,afterall your motto is if it breaks make it bigger and better! I may never be able to tow you again but Iam sure you'll use the purple tool box again. :D :mullet: :mullet:
-
THe reason for your ribbing is cause of all the bragging you did about your Rail and sandshowers...... and besides you rib us all the time...Sweet Cheeks
all my trannies were stockers BTW....

Yes they were all stock but after the first would've been nice to take it a little easy and finish trip Mr pinto bean \"I'm going to dump the clutch and sand shower\" with 2 not 3 trany re and re's in 3 nights. Pointblank at least we did have spare tranny Upm didn't even bother bringing one of the 2 spare's that was on his bench!  :mullet:
-
Did you miss my post from weeks agao about how when we get in our rails the brains get out????
YOur just jealous cuz you dont have enough HP to wreck a Tranny
-
OuchThat one hurt! I had enough to pull Upm that makes me happy enough! :D :D :mullet:Remember who's rail gave you the best down hill ride on Banshee hill at Winchester oh yea the one you didn't want to ride in mine!   :mullet:
-
Must admit I would have never done that in my rail... Probably was the most fun I have ever had on the dunes as well.......However had you had disc brakes and could have truned around you would have never gone down that either!!! We had no choice.. :mullet:
-
It's only a matter of time before the ribbing will be back at you once you drive that car of yours. And it sounds like your close..
You'll do something stupid. And then all your bragging will come back on you!!!!
-
YOu know once I get in I give the brain to you Chris!!!
-
I'm lovin'n it, all this love in the air, if you guys come to Beverly I promise to light the sky with a tranny case or two, anyone who's seen them burn will sighn on right away.
I am going to sit out a race in sacramento to come down.
It's fun small and pretty close,
Next big trip is St Anthonys Idaho. the big ones, July 11th week, book it now!!!
I will bring all the trannys,
Shane you might have to stay home those Fords might not make it over the Cascades

I heard it's running from the Garage to the trailer! :mullet:
-
Are you guys trying to make me cry??? :(
I shoved that wreck back into the storage and put the \"HULK \" in the trailer....
Summer is here and time to get the car out...
-
HEY HEY HEY!!!!! What's with burning up all these case's???
They don't grow on trees ya know!!!
-
HEY HEY HEY!!!!! What's with burning up all these case's???
They don't grow on trees ya know!!!
Hansk is the Grennpeacer of the Vw burning a tranny case even a bad one is sacraligious! All Vw part's in Hansk's eyes are to be reborn! If it wasn't for Hanzk and his inventory may of us would still have broken rails. If all else fails give it to Hansk he'll use it or file it numerically in his wondorus warehousing system:mullet: :P
-
Wondrous is right! As in \"I wonder were I put that thing? \"
It's in here somewhere.
-
Hey Hans
I got a case for you and a ring and pinion. Split the damn case right down the side and spit the ring and pinion out.
It's never going to happen again though, I welded magnesium gussets on the sides. It's an opportunity not a problem, now I can make it stronger!
I wonder where this will transfer the breakage to now??
Hey GRK and Hi Jumper are you coming to Beverly??
-
OK OK you can burn that one. :(
but you will strip everything out of it first won't you?
Throw out shaft, bearings, reverse shaft, studs, etc
-
Oh, and another thought,..... now I'm no engineer, but it would seem to me that when a mechanical device keeps breaking because of unnecessary repeated sudden extream high shock load spikes that the logical solution would be to somehow engineer away those unnecessary shock load spikes rather than OVER build the device to withstand those SPIKES.
...just a thought :P
-

The extream schock load is UPM foot standing on the throttle? Or figure a way to buid a stronger after market ring and pinion? Do you mean to start just a little easier, and not wind a ring and pinion meant for 40 horsepower up to 10,000rpm then dump the clutch.
Don't think I can make it to Beverly what was the date? I think last time I checked daughters both have a dance competion the entire weekend. Sure wish I could go buggy on a trailer is a waste of a buggy!
On the first day Give your rail a little TLC would Ya, beat the crap out of it the last day! :mullet: :mullet:
-
Hans. Are you sugesting letting up on the gas pedal?
That is not possible when all of us try to be first.
The cases that I burn are all non usable and the parts left in them are not worth scavenging for rev shafts bearings .
So see you all on the sand.
-
No , it's not the gas pedal. It's the clutch pedal that's doing it.(Chris will tell you when it happened)
I believe that those trany's will take the power that you guy's have.
It's those load spike's that are probably 10 time's higher than your power output from side stepping the clutch at 10 grand(right Chris)
My guess is your wanker motors won't move your cars unless you dump the clutch at 10 grand :P
-
Hey Hans,
Do you want to tell everyone how you like to me to beat you with my wanker!!!!
-
Well , it was fun  .......while it lasted :P :P
Oh , did I say wanker? :D ...I ment wankel ;)
-
RW here's the rail

That is too funny If that guy was my friend he would never be aloud to forget that one

Well, We have the Canadian Rubber chicken, anyone who does something stoopid must attach this rubber chicken to his car until someone else does somethign stoopid, :P
-
I soooo want to go buggying!!! First Thanksgiving I've missed since I went as a spectator 3- 4 years? Pointblank you have to admit the chicken starting to look pretty good, Terrelle wan''s it back thought she was gooing to cry when we had the handing off cerimony. ! It's Earing, necklace, Canadian flag sweater. Wunder what Brent will add as it''s his now.
Pointblank who do you know that's going spring break? I count Brian,Brent, Hanz, Bob, Doug, Frank,
Brent's neighbour, myself, don't know about Mike or Jesse?
