placing the pics was an adventure in itself, the buggy is my first venture back into the world of vws.
the baja was fading away in a friends garage and were hoping to bring it back to life and maybe even the next great canadian!
-
Yo big bro O0,pics look great.... hope to see more.
-
I like the baja! Get it done . Have you thought of Sand dunes with it?
Gary
-
Thats what I'm building it for, the buggy was supposed to be that car but then I got carried away with it. Were going kind of old school on it with the reduction box transaxle and a stocker 1600. I'm also putting receiver outlets front and back for slipping in a canoe or kayak rack for back country excursions.
-
nice rides & welcome to the asf. looks like you're right on track with the bug (allthough i'm partial to dirt over sand) ;).
-
... so big bro, :O0: when are you going to post the pics of the baja ;)

So Andy wanted me to post a few pics of the Baja rear tail lights for him, because he is not too sure on which one to use.
This is his 1st pic.
(https://airspeedparts.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm6.static.flickr.com%2F5060%2F5474645149_b0d01f6c4b_b_d.jpg&hash=3b1a5a31499b55b912175d37a0a107abf195fdaf)
This is his 2nd pic.
(https://airspeedparts.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm6.static.flickr.com%2F5297%2F5475246158_1e558dd38a_b_d.jpg&hash=5a88dfdfc4f6449bb3cf99b13ca186f61b4fc49f)
This is what the Baja looks like with the 2 different rear tail lights on.
(https://airspeedparts.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm6.static.flickr.com%2F5017%2F5474653083_41204089bc_b_d.jpg&hash=2695896052991f66bcca4c6b6767a69aa4eb73d7)
This pic is with the bigger tail lights on.
(https://airspeedparts.com/forums/proxy.php?request=http%3A%2F%2Ffarm6.static.flickr.com%2F5019%2F5475254016_5e1bf1fcc9_b_d.jpg&hash=a1f08a975cffab84196889213571931b26486732)
So Andy would like some comments on which tail lights look the best.
Rob

I'm a fan of snowflakes, but the fenders look as if they were made for the large lights, so I'd go with them. Either way it's a sweet ride!
-
ditto^^^^^^
-
ditto^^^^^^
iagree But, the snowflakes are more rad and from that time period. I'd say use 'em if you got 'em. ;D
-
Large lights flow with the fender. There's no arguing with the lines.
Dan

Andy go with the snow flakes. Fits the old school theme of the rest of the car. You_Rock_Emoticon
-
hell use both off them, start a new trend! lol_hitting

Great, looks like it will be alot of fun, thats alot of work so far. Whats your ground clearance now in the rear under the cross mount? What did you do to the front suspension to lift? The one thing I always want more of in the back country is ground clearnace. I'm hoping for 18" when I'm done my buggy with a modified reduction box IRS set-up You should put limit straps on the rear too, can't tell if you have any on yet or not.
Kevin

No limit straps yet, it looks to be about 16" clearance but we'll see once the engine is in. The front beam was cut and rewelded with extra reinforcing.
