Ive got an old gas guage that I found in my VW stuff , it looks similar to an oval gas guage but has chrome outer ring that is curved on its backside to fit a curved dashboard , I've never seen one like this before . Anybody know what its off of ?
thanks for any help .
sorry the last 2 pictures are such a large file size , I dont know what happened .

I think it is a split bus gauge,
-
my 64 ghia has one like that
-
looks like from a ghia...

Show's you what I know!

I thought it might be a ghia guage too but all the ones I see on the samba have a flat or flush mounting ring surface like the one below so I am still puzzled .I have seen similar guages but not any with made to fit a curved surface .

Told Ya!! ;D

Well , before I even posted this question , I did a lot of looking around to see what this guage was from , I thought a ghia or a bus too , but I believe the back side of this thing has a sharper or harder curve than a type 2 bus , and I have a link below that someone on the samba is selling bus & ghis guages as the same thing , I've looked at pictures and the bus guage sits on a fairly flat slightly curved radiused surface so I am still not positive at to what its from . does anybody have a close up of an early type 2 gas guage installed or not ? Sorry to be so annoying about this but I've looked high and low and have not seen another like this one , maybe I'm just looking in all the wrong places .

LOOK AT THE BACK IT WILL BE DATED AND SAY 6V OR 12v and will have part # ON IT
-
Bus.

The ink date is to light to read , but it is 6 volt ,the stampings are the same as other guages I've had before , I don't see a part number per se , just a 6V 2/66 which is on most guages and a 21/18 , I guess it must be a bus gauge but all the bus gauges I have seen in the past are the same a beetle gauges .

Shawn ,
that guage is similar but still does not have the same suround as mine does and that one sits flat against the dash .

Well I never could find a part number on this gauge but it looks like the bus people win this debate . It does in fact appear to be a split bus fuel gauge . I found a guy selling this exact gauge on the Samba . And its the same exact part number as Bruce posted . Thanks for all the input .
