Title: points
Post by: 70's Looker on September 11, 2008, 08:37:08 PM
has anyone picked up any two peice points made by bosch in like the last 4 months? ive bought two and keep going back to my damn old set, cause the fiber stick that rides on the loabs broke off, and the newest one was made from plastic wore out in like 700-1000 miles, just curious if perhaps its the distributor thats causing this or anyone else have problems with this.

sorry this is just to funny  O0

Are you putting lube between the metal shaft and plastic lobe?

...a small dab of wheel bearing grease has always worked well for me.

not sure about your lobe problem tho...allthough they're bosch and i've never had an issue with them...where are you getting these parts from?

Use Bosch "Distributor Grease" and not white lube or bearing grease. My last set of points were in for 17,000 miles and I replaced them just for the hell of it.

Get the the Bosch 01016 over the 01001. It has a stronger springs.

It resists high heat and is really sticky. It's great on the tranny input shaft also.
