I hope we have a nice car count for racing 25+ cars would be nice 40+ would be one of the best ever....

How many DVKK members will be dragin?  Alan, Bruce, Darren K, Darren D, who else did I miss....

Lets have some fun and bring it on.

I'll be racing for the first time!! Sort of getting nervous about it actually. Can anyone here give me some pointers when I get there? I'll be the one in pink.  ;D

One question comes to mind, how do you know what number to put on the side of the car so the tower can see it? What is that number anyways?

While we're talking about it, maybe a review of race track etiquette for myself and anyone who hasn't run down the track in a while , or ever.  First , I learned the hard way once ,  Do Not drive down the pit lanes back wards , in other words , away from the tower. Apparently you must stay to the left as you enter the pit area , then enter the pit lanes from the back driving towards the tower to find a pit spot. (I almost got beat up for this once)
Once in the staging lanes , watch track personnel, they will direct you onto the track and into the burn out box (if you want)  and when to move forward etc.  When the starter directs you to the start line , move up and carefully light only the first staging light , wait for the car in the other lane to light their first light then inch forward to light your second light. Once the other car lights their second light , be ready to go when you see a big flash of yellow because if you wait to see the green , your way to late. If your car breaks on the track pull to the side and stop in hopes of not oiling down the whole track .  I think thats about it . Please add or correct as needed. And lets have a blast!

Good info Hans!

....... and into the burn out box (if you want)  ........
If you have radial street tires, you should stay out of the burnout box.  The tread actually gets water in it, and you bring that forward to the start line.  Then you spin at the line.  Heating street tires doesn't make them grip better like slicks.
For a newbie, eliminating the burnout reduces the things you have to keep track of.

not sure shawn....but it's best to get out there as early as possible. i'm pretty sure they only allow a certain number of cars to register, and with the weather being as nice as it is it should be busy.

you just gotta skip outta work early!!!

cant wait to see you!!

Can we park with the rest of the vw's in the pits even if we do not plan to race? If not is there a place that all the non-racing vw's will be parking?

Chris

Kind of last minute but I have a "Race tent" that sets up pretty easy and would work nice for some shade in the pits tonight when wrenching. If anyone is interested they could come pick it up in Coquitlam. Just up Blue mtn from Lougheed Hwy. I could bring it but probably won't be there until 6:30 - 7:00.

Hey Guys,

Just wanted to say I had a blast at the drags, it's too bad they had the track closed for the oil clean up.  Only ended up with two runs, first being 15.1 @ 91mph  and second run of 14.4 @ 94 mph.  I was hoping for the 13s, but perhaps next year.  ;D

Wanted to say thanks to Jim martin for helping me pass tech, and giving me some pointers, and also Rob for help as well!  You guys made the experience one to not forget.
