Title: Bill's 1968 Wagon. GCVWS hopeful
Post by: slammedbus on July 10, 2008, 01:13:34 PM
Well it has been the better part of a year and Bill is almost done re-assembling the old girl. My friend has always had an interest in VWs and when this one came up for sale over a year ago he jumped at it. The car was painted by one  of my students when I was in Salmon Arm. I knew it was a fairly solid car. Bill has had to re-assemble the entire thing including putting in the front beam and rear submember. Re do all the electrical, rebuild the motor, set up the brakes, fix up some spots on the front fenders and blend the paint, cut out some runs and polish it up. Brian handled the headliner and carpet as well as installing the windows.

All in all it has come a long way from the pink machine it once was and it will hopefully be ready for the GC!

Just waiting for the motor to get back from initial run and tuning. Any day now this car should turn up on the sightings thread!

About the only thing looking better than that car back together is seeing Bill standing beside it.  That's awesome.....

It is actually a concoction. It started life as an Audi colour but someone added some gold and blue pearl.

nice. it's hard to tell from the pics but it does look dark grey/blue-ish.

It really depends on the light. In the direct sun it looks almost mildly metallic but without direct sun but in a lighter area it looks light grey, without sunlight and in the shade or evening time it goes really dark.

This would be Jason's way of saying "I don't really know what f#**in colour it is" ;D
