Title: 12 volt conversion

I am getting alot of different people telling me different things ...????????

What needs to be done to the car to change to 12 volt?

65 beetle 1300cc

change all lights incl dash, alt or gen to a 12v, voltage reg. for the starter I know that guys have left 6v ones in and have them work for years, it will spin much faster and as long as your motor is healthy and you don't have to crank it for 30 sec + every time to start, i'd leave it until next time you have the motor out and then switch the flywheel and starter bushing and oh yeah clearance the bellhousing

Wipers, signal flasher, fuel gauge, radio and the choke coil on the carb too.

I've run a 6v flasher relay on 12 for years

doesnt the 6 volt wiper motor still work?

sure if you want it to go so fast it chucks the blades off :D

there are resistors sold to step down but I hear they're junk and burn out. most find a 67ish motor or change the armature
