I have a K n L beam shortened 3". Just wondering how much I take off each Tierod? 1.5" off one side per tierod? Also, what size tap do i need?
Thanks

i have the tap you can use gerry
can't remember how much i took off but i only took it off the right side so i would not need a left hand thread tap

Thanks Russ...maybe if your around on saturday I'll stop out and grab it...I have to run out to Mopac.

you might not even have to take off anything, just try it first. just make sure you dont take too much off

I might get away with taking little to none off the longer side but on the shorter side the tierods are screwed most of the way in. My concern was mostly the shorter side. Given that the assemblies are not of equal lengths is it ok to shorten them both equally? Will it pull one wheel more than the other while i'm turning? Just a thought!

I always take the 1/2 the amount off the tierod that the beam is narrowed. So a 3" beam would get each tierod cut 1 1/2". No need for a left hand tap as you only cut off the ends that have a right hand thread and retap with a 14x1.5 tap.

Gerry, I have one of those taps, 14 x 1.5, you could use. I'm in Coquitlam, just up from Ikea. Not to far from Geoff.

It is pretty straight foward. You remove 3" from your beam you remove 3" from your tie rods. If you want everything to be the same for alighment perposes take 1.5" off each side. Other wise you can try everyone else's way of cut a little and see how it goes ???
Gerry hope this helps ;D
