Any recomendations on a brand of tank sealer and where to buy?

Old car center has some I used it on my oval 8 years ago . Don't remeber the name

POR-15 has a tank sealer that should be able to be had at Lordco.

you can buy some 2-part stuff called Kreem at most motorcycle shops, I used the Eastwood kit (mail order or now at KMS Tools) on my beetle tank.

now I am not recommending this method because I don't know if it actually works but I was told that you can use muriatic acid to clean the tanks and then to seal use fiberglass resin. I know an individual that has done this on many motorcycle and car restorations with no adverse problems.

I used muriatic acid diluted 1:1 or 2:1 (water to acid) and a chunk of chain rattling inside to clean the heavy rust and descale before doing the eastwood kit. Works well, but will rust again quickly - and it is water based so needs to be flushed with water, then acetone which will bind the water and evaporate it, then you blow it out with compressed air and seal it right away before it rusts. The eastwood kit came with a neutralizing phosphate metal wash of some sort that also provided a bit of rust inhibitor to let you do it over two days if you needed.
Don't know if fiberglass resin works or not, but I know that motorcycle gas tanks made of fiberglass are not fuel resistant and need to be sealed with the Kreem sealer, so this would likely indicate 'NOT' to that. Not that flexible either so I'm not sure how long it might last....

I have used a chain and "Zep" brand lime and scale remover before to clean rusted tanks. It came from Home Despots. It did work well but I think I should have neutralized it with some baking soda. It is a mild acid. Clean grey metal in like 10 minutes on a warm day.
But I just started using this stuff: http://www.evapo-rust.com/ and it works quite well so far. Not shiny bright but clean after a quick scrub. So far i have only used it on some old tools. But I want to try a tank next. Best of all it is self limiting and biodegradable.
You can get the Evapo rust at Canadian tire for like $10 litre.

I am just doing mine right now as I type. I bought a 3 part kit from Lordco made by Northern. It was $55 or so. So far, 2nd stage, it is easy to use and instructions are good. They also have a 1800 line if you need help. Alp
