Title: How Are Your Winter Projects Coming?
Post by: Geoff on April 06, 2008, 07:48:58 PM
Just wondering who has been doing work on their cars this winter and what new ones will be out? post some pic's

The Red 59 just fired up today, should have the new brakes bled soon then onto some much needed detail and clean up.
It was nice to hear it rumble to life.

Hi Geoff,
Here is the latest and greatest on my 65 Beetle.
Just got a call from my painter and all the fenders, hood, deck lid and doors are all painted.
Now the fun begins, need to start assembling everything back together.  Many new parts will be arriving soon including my interior from West Coast Classics.
Thanks,
Shawn :D

I've been working on the '59 a little bit latetly. Just about have the hard fuel lines plumbed with AN fittings, got tires and rims mounted and all the brake lines done. Have a bit of body metal to cut in and I might just prime and flat green paint for now and get it back on the road. The good paint might have to wait. Been itching to drive it lately. It's only taken 15 years. I'll try and post some updated pics.

Done a lot over the winter. All new 3/8 stainless fuel line front to back, installed narrowed beam, autometer guages and tach, and flat4 steering wheel. Also BRM's with LanD center caps. Installed a back seat which I got in California (needs matching upholstery some day).
Last but not least a new 2275 bolted in. Just need some sun and insurance.

Mine are going slowly :( . I started to restore my Ghia last August and got side tracked during the winter. I had my 69 beetle out under a car tent because I was working on a car for a friend of my kids. The wind came up and flipped the tent. One of the legs hit the side of the car and put a big dent in it. So the 69 is getting done right now. I have all the body work done, etching primer on the metal and getting ready for high build. Due to my schedule it probably won't get primed until the weekend of the 19th. Hopefully it will be complete by the middle of next month. Then I can get back to the Ghia. Eventually I will be working on my squareback again

I'm almost there. I ripped out most of the wiring under the back seat, and tried to clean it up. Hope to insure the car by the end of April.

Also, I've got a lot of other people's projects on the go. There are some other interesting projects being built this spring.

My Syncro DC has been in the body shop since last November,i am looking at recovering it around September,it is currently under going a major resto by Barry Guscott. Brian Cook is doing the interior for me and is making good progess. Once it gets out from body and paint it is getting a 2400 or 2500 go westy engine...havent decided yet. A 9500lbs warn winch and air compressor mounted up front. All the drive lines, balljoints and wheel bearings are getting replace so it is looking that it wont be debuted untill summer 2009. But it should look nice once we are all done with it....

Can't rush good work!

Jason

Thinking of waking up the 65 and leaving the bus for next winter. Its only been 5 years. It's been so long I can't remember what it looks like and what may need to be done.

Finally shot some primer on my bug. I also ordered the new body rubber a couple days ago. Hopefully after some light sanding (maybe another coat of primer) I'll get my paint order taken care of. ;D
