I have the new heating channels and the rear clip. I finally got a quote to do the following:
1-Weld on the right heating channel (already removed).
2-Remove and replace the left heating channel.
3-Replaced the rear clip with a good clip that i have.
4-Replace the rubber between the body and pan (I have the new one)
5-Fabricate and replaced two 1 1/2\" X 18\" inside the front L & R WHEELHOUSE SECTION.
6-Prime it.
Does that sound right?

I would say if you can get that done for that price. Go for it. There is many hours involved in changing all that out.

yeah and no dissrespect to whoever's quote that is but make sure they do the quality work that you are after, ask to see pics or better yet past projects that they have done.....that sounds a bit on the cheap side for doing it right

How many hours would you think it would take to do everything except the priming?

I think that is fair. Considering the fact that the person doing the job will not have to spend a whole lot on materials, aside from primering, its mostly labour, so its reasonable.

How many hours would you think it would take to do everything except the priming?
How long is a piece of string?
It depends. Find someone that works by the hour. If you get a quote, two things are going to happen. One they are going to quote high to cover their butt in case they find all sorts mess while doing the repair or they are going to make a mess of the repair because they are trying to make it work with the cheap price they gave you. Hourly keeps everyone honest. You can see the hour sheets at most any place that works that way. So if you have questions about the bill you can look at the hours it took.
I think Ryan Short had the best signature.......something like.........if you want it bad, you'll get it bad. The worse you want it the worse it will be.
And jakub. Last time I checked, welding wire, CO2 gas, primer, cut discs, flap discs, heat for the shop, and electricity to run the place added up pretty quick. ;)
The price sounds good Emilio just make sure you get some kind of written agreement as to what is involved in that price. JM2C

I guess I will have to have any potential body guy go over and see the car. My pictures do not show the car well.

just to play devil's advocate, but unless the car was your parents first car, or maybe you were born in it, might you be better off in considering a more solid car to start with? If $3k is getting you to primer, maybe $2k for paint and assembly? That puts you into it for $5k plus the parts, I've seen some nice looking stockers in SoCal that wouldn't have the rust problems, and might be a better deal in the long run. Just a thought E.
