Title: Beetle Door Hinge Repair
Post by: kombikruiser on January 22, 2008, 11:40:36 PM
My cuz is  repairing a door hinge on my 67 beetle,  and has drilled out the rivets on the door part of the hinge and removed it from the door; so he has both parts of the hinge on the bench so he can install an oversize hinge pin.May have been a bad move...

His question is;

what would be the best way to re-attach the hinge to the door. Obvuisly the original size rivet would be ideal, but is probably not a viable option,
 ie; would never be able to find them...

The door is primed and all body work done , so any welding would probably warp...

Have any of you come up with a solution in this situation...

Nut and bolt? lame...

??????

Thanks gang

I think VW actually listed a bolt/nut kit to repair this back in the day. I will have to check my shop manuals.

Workshop manual A-15 page 2. Part#'s as follows:

N 100 847 01 (counter sunk head bolt)
N 012 108 2 (washer)
N 011 008 8 (nut)

These parts are still availbale at your local dealer and they are cheap.
