i am just starting to assemble the car and am having to run out everytime i need a bolt.
so i would like to put together a list of standard sizes i should use on my car and just load up a hardware bin
(or i could bug Darren D) everytime i need something ;)
i was thinking of starting at M4-M10 assorted sizes all National Course
what would be a good starting point 10mm to 35mm long in 5mm increments? 10mm/15mm/20mm ect
thanks for any input

I believe http://www.totallystainless.com/ (http://www.totallystainless.com/) makes a kit for VW's. Makes it a little easier.

Russ, when I was screwing together Rick's car, I kept a list of every screw I used, and it's location. I did this to prepare a shopping list. I don't know if I still have this list. I'll have a look in the garage.

With metrics, you will not get National Coarse/National Fine thread (or NC/ NF) - that's imperial thread. Metrics are denoted in the size and measured thread pitch in mm ie M8*1.0, M10*1.25, M12*1.75 etc. as well as the threaded shaft length.
Sabre industrial in Tilbury has a good selection of metrics and they like to deal in bulk, so maybe take in a few of your M6's m8's and m10s (that's most of what you'll need) and get them to measure the pitch for you and set you up with a few mixed boxes.

i bought a hardware bin and basically started at M4 X10 up to M4 X25
all the way up to M8 X 25
i bought them all in button head stainless and it worked great anything i was running low of i new the size to buy.
as for fender hardware i bought all the land products, they worked great as well.
