Hey I need help to identify some ring & pinions I have what do I have to do all I know is that ones from early swing (6volt syncro) and the other is from a single side cover irs both type 1, I'd like to find out what I have to do after I count the the teeth on the ring & pinion
Thanks Glenn

Post the tooth count numbers. Divide the ring gear by 8 to get the ratio. Your early one is 35/8 = 4.37:1
Look carefully on the side of the ring gear for a 4 digit stamp. There will be a letter with 3 numbers like G831 on the late ring gear. Post those.

Ok I'll post the findings tomorrow I'll be ripping trannies apart tomorrow I also have a 5 rib but that should have a 4.86 I think.

The divide by 8 does that work with type 2 ring & pinions to? never mind I looked at my 4.57 and I just divided by 7 thanks.

What are the letters next to the tooth count stampings on the ring gears?

I still have to take the rings off the diff or do I

No, the marks are on the OD of the ring gear. Wipe away the gunk.
