Title: Ring & Pinion

Hey I need help to identify some ring & pinions I have what do I have to do all I know is that ones from early swing (6volt syncro) and the other is from a single side cover irs both type 1, I'd like to find out what I have to do after I count the the teeth on the ring & pinion

Post the tooth count numbers.  Divide the ring gear by 8 to get the ratio.  Your early one is 35/8 = 4.37:1

Look carefully on the side of the ring gear for a 4 digit stamp.  There will be a letter with 3 numbers like G831 on the late ring gear.  Post those.

Ok I'll post the findings tomorrow I'll be ripping trannies apart tomorrow I also have a 5 rib but that should have a 4.86 I think.

The divide by 8 does that work with type 2 ring & pinions to? never mind I looked at my 4.57 and I just divided by 7 thanks.

Ok so I have a 4.37 and a 3.88 for type 1 and a 4.57 and a 4.86 for type 2 wow I hait taking trannies apart know.

What are the letters next to the tooth count stampings on the ring gears?

No, the marks are on the OD of the ring gear.  Wipe away the gunk.

OK the late r&p #s are G831 & the 5 rib is K734 the other type 1 r&p I'll post tomorrow and the other bus r&p is in my buggy
