A couple of people come to mind. Darren Krewenchuck (K-roc) does nice work, as well as Gary (GMB) Massin-Ball. Wouldnt hesitate to recommend either of them. Good luck.
You can find both of them on the Air speed forum.

we are working on our 2nd 2110cc power plant for the wifes 73 super this winter.

otherwise Darren is a good choice for a canadian builder.

I'm also in Alberta (Calgary) and have run several larger engines over the last 30 years.  Currently I run a 2017 cc in my '68 Beetle, which is very reliable for both street and strip driving.  Check out

Westside automotive in Edmonton does good work.  Dustin V. in Lethbridge has a killer 2276, but I believe he did most of the work himself.  Concept 1 has built some amazing stuff.  And the 2110 that bullyboy built is one hell of a screamer!

There are some damn fast Bugs in this province.

Actually that was K-Roc build originally :D
Since then they have been thru it a few times. And the next mod for them is the CB Performance turbo this winter.

Where in Alberta do you live?  There are a bunch of 2.3-litre engines being built in Calgary this winter...many will have K-Roc heads on them...including mine :)  Most will be 2276, 2332 and even a 2442 cc turn-key, rumour has it.

It's your decision as to whether you are more comfortable purchasing a fully-built engine or building it yourself...it's sounds like you are leaning towards the first option.

Either way, since the Canadian dollar exchange is so favourable these days (most aftermarket parts come from the USA) it's a good time to build...

T4 2L bolts right in.  you'll need a 210/215mm flywheel, and some sort of upright cooling conversion.
