ok guy, another beetle down for me, but this one due to a drunk driver.
i got hit, and thrown across both lanes of the road and pushed another parked car 10 feet sideways. nothing is broken but might have a cracked rib and im sure as hell going to be sore. oh and for the record when your face hits windshield it is not comfy.
anyways im going to need your guys help with this claim, anyone that runs a resto shop could then send me their number so i can get you guys to sign that the vintage parts on my car are worth big money. geoff i could use you as well for this.
pictures comming

#$%^$%&@ man, I hope you are ok. Give it a couple of weeks before you say anything.
I will send you a pm.
If you have a lawyer, get all your ducks in line and keep a diary describing everything since the accident. Witnesses are really important.
-
i went to a clinic right after the accident, tues im going for x-rays (might have cracked a rib, not sure i just know its not broken)
i dont have a lawyer that i know of, parents might have one though. honestly never delt with a pain and suffering claim before
-
oh man!!
amish, i'm am happy to hear that you are allright. that is the most important thing right now...your health and a complete recovery.
as for the car, try rudy feeg auto repair for the claim. also, maybe you & josh can compile a stack of receipts for parts used on the car aswell as an estimate as to how much time has been spent building, servicing & repairing it.
like chris & others have said, get a good lawyer and get the drunk douchbeg that hit you to pay big time.
good luck & let me know if i can do anything for you.
-
As i posted on Dubberz, im sorrry to hear it. I bet it still runs though eh.
-
if i could fix the fuel line it would i think
was leaking fuel when the towed it away
-
OMG dude, glad to hear you are feeling okay. I was imagining worse than what I see in the photos. Documentation is gonna be your friend. Powertrain looks to be unaffected. That's a good thing. Take care of yourself first... it's only a car and can be replaced.
-
it's only a car and can be replaced.
truer words have never been spoken.
glad your ok
-
WOW DUDE !!! glad you are OK ...that pic is brutal...hope you get a sympathetic adjuster...I wish I could hook you up with my last adjuster ...he was really cool ( and liked VWs ) , but I dont think you can do that.
like everyone says document everything ...in 6 months a lot of details will escape you and then all they have to reference your claim against...and no one will remember your pain except you...thickness of claim file = $$
Just my2 cents
again , glad you are OK!!
PS... pain and suffering claims don't cost you anything until you collect money from ICBC.then the lawyer takes his cut so it's in his interest to get you lots of $$
-
Glad you're ok, and may the drunk driver burn in hell. I have no tolerance whatsoever for drunk drivers
-
:( Sorry to hear about that . take care of yourself give everything time don't settle to soon with ICBC you will probablly be feeling that hit for a while . JUst glad to hear you are in as good of shape as you are . You will have lots of help of the forum in regards to your car .Take care of yourself
I had a relative killed by a drunk driver 18 years old , throw the book at em
P.S. Keep us updated and take it easy
-
Jeez young man! Happy to hear u r ok! Let me know if there is anything I can do. Rest up kid
-

-

-
dude that SUCKS BAD!!!!! glad your OK, like the others said cars can be replaced, you can't!
If you need a hand with anything, hit me up
ps can't believe you wrecked my car ]:( .............................................................. :P
-
if you could wrack your brain for anything on the car that isnt engine related that is worth significant money (hard to find OG items ect) it would be a big help when i go to the insurance agent
im sorry josh :( engine is still good though
-
well for starters there was probably over 2 grand easy into re-doing all the chrome ie; oe bumpers, mirrors, gas cap, turnsignals, headlight rings on and on. powder coaterd gas tank, the beam I did for you, the roof rack was pretty mint, that' gotta be worth a few hun, the custom gauges and gauge pod.
I don't have reciepts for any of that stuff, cause it was all under the ol' table.... sorry.
what's the plan? try and get the car back with some cash to try and salvage some stuff or just a straight pay-out?
-
Sorry to hear about your car dude. Hope you can find another one to peplace it one you get things straightened out. Best of luck, Brian.

see what the pay out offer is, and see what the buy back would be. if i get a good pay out and a good buy back price ill just do that and start transplanting/stripping. the engine is a good chunk of change to remake so might make a buyback worth it. only issue is i dont have storage for all the stripped pieces so id have to have already found a beetle to put it into. id prefer to transplant all the stuff though, but lack of storage area might make for other plans
as for my health im fucking sore, but its not to bad as long as i dont move  . tuesday i go for a of ton x-rays and ill probably stop by a lawyer since i have no idea how to deal with a pain and suffering claim.
-
Any chance that you would be able to sue the drunk driver?
Maybe enough to buy you a split (Third times a charm :P)
-
thats gonna be the pain and suffering claim, but i guess im suing icbc who then holds the drunk guys licence ransom for the money they pay me. nto sure how it all works exactly so thats why im gonna do one of those free 30 min consults with a lawyer.
i dont think im gonna get enough for a split though :( nothing is broken (well nothing major, x-rays will show for sure) so its not gonna be something like a 50 000 settlement
maybe darren will give me a sympathy deal on his split
-
Yeah bend that dickhead over and do him dry :o Then let my wife at him (it was her first car and all) I just showed her the pic's, she's pretty choked that it's written off. Just glad you didn't get too messed.
How fast were the two of you going?
-
i was going speed limit, he was going god knows how fast, all i saw was a car flying sideways at me REALLY fast
good old 44 year old german engineering kept me safe
-
scary shit man, knock on wood i've never been it a bad wreck and i'd like to keep it that way!
Just when you were starting to have fun with it too, I thought it was really cool that you were out at the track with the old beast.
Get the thing back, strip it sell off a couple things and stick the motor in a corner of your old man's garage/ basement whatever, just make it see anouther day
-
as for the car, try rudy feeg auto repair for the claim.
I hope you aren't suggesting the car can be fixed?
The car is a gonner. The only thing left is to determine it's value.

no doubt, it's farked :(
hopefully ICBC won't look to close at the floor and heater channels and give you a fair buck for it

I'm sure you could find a few guys to \"STORE\" your motor while you look for a new beetle to put it in.

I wouldent even talk to the adjusters their job is to bend you over with \"No Vasiline\". Ive been on the short end of the ICBC deal a few times over...my advise is find the right lawyer and aim hi,cause they will argue it down to pennies....Thats just my slanted veiw.
Sorry bout your ride ...Wish you the best with your recovery and the insurance game

when my first beetle blew up i walked into the adjusters office with 150 sheets of paper showing my cars worth. i got them to pay me 5000 for a 73 super beetle, you just have to intimidate them and let them know that you know EVERYTHING about your car and arent going to take pennies for it
-
I wish you the very best ...mabey ive just had bad luck with adjusters.Problem i usually faced is that i have to work to survive and they interperate that as \"good enough to work, cant be in that much pain\".As for the car,I keep every receipt i have ever spent in a file. They love to prorate value of that ...even though i have spent alot of time searching out decent deals in putting things together...knowing people that help you, those values due to your hard work are worth nothing. You may consider a cash settlement and negotiate keeping the written off car, keep all your good parts and start with a good shell..If you have the place and the ability to rebuild.
-
Man I hope you re ok. I was TOTALLY looking forward to seeing your car at the show. Like everyone says though....your health and wellness is more important than the car. but DAAAAAAAAAANG bro I liked that car..hehe take care man and take it easy
-
Dude thats terrible heal up well and take your time when dealing with icbc
-
well i lawyered up today, to much to deal with a pain and suffering claim by myself from calgary.
and icbc called asking for my receipts, i dont think they will be pleasantly surprised with my write up on the car and the mass amount of money in reciepts :D
-
Amishrabbi,
Firstly, I hope you get better, you work out your claim and find a new beetle. Secondly, I would stop posting comments on any public forum until your claim is settled. You never know ICBC may use them against you.
My .02 cents.
Take care.
