I like those drain backs in the heads!

I'd notch the AN fitting so it doesn't have the lip to flow over...

Those nut's are super tall and designed to accept a stud or another bolt in the threaded area you are looking at..... ( For Bolt on Valve covers...)

Josh I would get some Copper Exhaust Gaskets with a smaller ID ( they will seal better than the ones you have there..)

thanks boys,

the AN fitting has one more thread cut off inside the head,

who am I gonna race? I don't give a shit, I just wanna race!!!!!

the scat covers clear, they have been dimpled in a couple spots

No alan, i've got the limiter set at 5K :P

Yeah the nuts are called barrel nuts and they have over 1\" of thread bite. Pauter recommend's the hex end to be seated on the rocker block side, opposite as I have. But on one of my rocker arms there's not enough room to get a socket in there when I have the side shim set up for the pushrod to clearance the puhrod tube. Darren do you think this matters having the hex ontop? will it affect torque?

on the exhaust gaskets, these are advertised for 1 5/8\" headers, and i'm running 1 3/4\" so you figgure get some 1 1/2\" ones?

Hi Josh I don't think that will be a problem running those nuts the way you have them but if you can sneek a washer inder there it will help spread some of the load a little more, ( I would check the torque on those a few times after you get it running to be sure though...

Ya the 11/2\" copper gaskets are the ticket!

COOL , glad to see it's getting back to the track. The car was set up to run hard and a lot, not a once a year type of deal. keep posting on your progress. Anytime any one talks VW with me , they talk about how cool that car is. Its also nice to know your making a lot nicer then when i owned it. Bring that thing to portland for the vw show/race.

I always ran them with the hex outside. never had problem on two deferent engine with tons of passes. I do know it was not really the correct way but for between rounds it's was way nicer for quick checks. Washer is a good idea. Check every thing all the time, makes for a funner day. :P  Scat valve covers clear fine with pauters
